About Malik's Blankets for the Homeless

Welcome to Malik's Blankets for the Homeless! Founded in December 2022, our organization is driven by a heartfelt mission to provide warmth, comfort, and hope to homeless individuals in the downtown Indianapolis area.

Our Story

Malik's Blankets for the Homeless was born out of a deep desire to make a difference in our community and fulfill the wish of an extraordinary young boy named Malik. The driving force behind our organization is David Chaney, a 58-year-old single father figure and a proud Navy veteran with 14 years of dedicated service to his country.

After battling personal challenges, David found sobriety and a renewed purpose through the mercy of the Lord Jesus Christ. It was during this transformative period that a special connection with his 8-year-old autistic son, Malik, flourished. Inspired by Malik's pure and compassionate heart, David was moved to do everything he could to help his son's dream of aiding the homeless become a reality.

It was in December of 2022 that David and Malik initiated the first-ever blanket drive, aptly named Malik's Blankets for the Homeless. With a goal to provide warmth and support to those in need, they distributed 100 blankets to homeless individuals in the downtown Indianapolis area. This act of kindness not only brought comfort to those facing adversity but also instilled hope and a sense of belonging in their hearts.

Our Mission

At Malik's Blankets for the Homeless, our mission is clear: to extend a helping hand to our homeless neighbors and demonstrate compassion in action. We believe that every human being deserves warmth, care, and dignity, regardless of their circumstances. Through the simple act of providing blankets, we aim to create a positive impact and remind the homeless community that they are not alone.
